JYOTISH
INTERNATIONAL
GUIDELINES
Is
there anything that I can do during the yajna
to maximize the benefits of the yajña?
Yes.
Here are some general directives. Follow them
as long as they don't interfere with your level
of inner comfort.
- Before
deciding to have a yajna, check your schedule
and make sure to advise us of any major period
during which you may travel. It is better not
to travel at large during the yajnas ( within
50 miles is ok).
- It
will be good to go to bed on time and be well
rested.
- Your
food should be fresh, try to avoid leftovers.
- If
you practice a meditation technique, be regular
with your practice. You can also add an extra
meditation before lunch (10 to 20 minutes).
You can also add an extra meditation if you
wake up early in the morning or if you wake
up during the night.
- It
is advisable to read Vedic literature, i.e.
Upanishads, Bhagavad-Gita, Puranas, Mahabharata,
Ramayana, etc., or any book that you find spiritually
uplifting ( for a period of 15 to 30 minutes
per day if your schedule allows it).
- If
you like, you can also listen to Gandharva Veda
music or any type of branch of vedic knowledge
that you may have on tape or CD..
- It
is advisable to avoid any activity which brings
fatigue (sports, etc.) or may create negativity
( involvement in political activities, horror
movies, etc) .
- It
is also possible if you desire to practice a
mantra related to the planet for which you have
a yajna performed. Depending on your time available,
different programs are available. Those programs
may take as little of 10 minutes of your time,
up to 5 hours a day. CDs and tapes are available
at our foundation.
- Put
your attention inward rather than outward during
that period in order to appreciate the effects
of the Vedic yajna being performed.
- On
the 2nd day of a 3 day yajna, you should do
a prayer/meditation about the results that you
would like to receive from the yajna.
- On
the 6th day of a 7 day yajna, you should do
a prayer/meditation about the results that you
would like to receive from the yajna.
